Andal (also Goda Devi) is a revered 8th-century Tamil saint and one of the twelve Alvars, known for her intense devotion (bhakti) to Lord Vishnu, particularly Krishna, expressing her longing as a bride for her divine husband. She is considered an incarnation of Lakshmi (Bhumi Devi) and is unique as the only female Alvar. Her famous works, Tiruppavai and Nachiyar Tirumozhi, are central to Vaishnavism, depicting her divine marriage and merging with Vishnu (Ranganatha).
